Situation in Kashmir calls for massive operations against militants
10/30/2018 8:27:13 PM
The week ended on Friday was full
of violence in the troubled Kashmir in which 23 people were killed. And the security forces have no other alternative but to start the search and cordon operation. And luckily there were no ceasefire violations on the LoC or on the IB after the killing of three soldiers indicating that Pakistani agencies were trying to concentrate on attacking Army, security forces and the police. In one week killing of 23 people is not a joke. It is a serious affair and calls for massive operations by security forces against militants and their hideouts. In fact various groups of militants have crossed into Kashmir and that is the reason for hike in the level of violence The last six days have been deadly in strife-torn Kashmir as 23 people have died in militancy-related incidents.
Of 23 causalities reported from Sunday (October 21) till Friday (October 26), 13 are militants, seven civilians, a paramilitary SSB man and 2 Army men. As the week began, the bloodshed was witnessed at Laroo village of south Kashmir's Kulgam district, where seven civilians were killed in high-intensity blast near the encounter site. People had assembled near the encounter site and were trying to douse the fire in the house damaged in the gunfight when a powerful blast took place.
Earlier, three Jaish-e-Mohammad militants-Shahid Ahmad Tantary of Shopian, Zubair Ahmad Lone of Kulgam and Yazil Ahmad Makrooof Arwani Bijbehara- were killed in the gunfight.
The civilian killings in the blast resulted in massive outrage and Kashmir observed shutdown for two days while life is Kulgam and Anantnag districts in south Kashmir still remain out of gear.
Militants attacked a CRPF camp at Midoora area of Tral in Pulwama on Sunday evening in which a SSB constable Vijay Kumar was killed. After two days of lull (on October 22 and 23), two militants-scholar-turned-militant Sabzar Ahmad Sofi of Naina Village and Asif Ahmad Shergojiri of Khiram Sirigufwara in Anantnag district-were killed in a gun battle at Sothu Kothair area of Nowgam on outskirts of Srinagar on Wednesday (October 24)This way the situation is quite disturbing and it does not need any certificate either from the Governor or from the Union Home Minister who have been saying that the situation in the valley has improved. In reality civilians too get killed either by the militants or during the encounters between the security forces and the militants. There seems no dilution of Pakistan's support to militants with Imran Khan being sworn in as Prime Minister of Pakistan. Sufficent forces are required to carry out massive operations against the militants otherwise the situation may get out of control.
