ACF exam clashes with polls; aspirants in a spot
Over 200 in-service candidates deputed for election duty

Early Times Report
jammu, Oct 30: The clash of dates of exam for the post of Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) with the election of Panchayats has put the future of hundreds of in-service aspirants in jeopardy, as they will not be able to participate in the exams as they have been deputed for one month's election duty.
The J&K Public Service Commission has issued the date schedule for the ACF (mains), which is going to start from November 15 and will conclude on December 2.
A total of over 200 candidates, who are in-service and have qualified the preliminary examination, are scheduled to appear for the mains examination. "In the recently issued polling scheduled and the officers appointed for the duty, many in-service candidates have found their names in the list", sources said, adding that these in-service candidates have to perform their duty and they could not deny the same.
"It is crucial time for the aspirants, who have been preparing for their mains examination. After performing the daily duties, we do our preparation in the night hours, but now the election duty has shattered all our dreams", an aspirant said.
They further said that all the in-service candidates have spread over length and breadth of the state and from Wednesday onwards the training of the polling employees will also start. "This polling duty will ruin our hard work of many months together", the aspirant said, adding that they had taken up the matter with some higher officials of JKPSC but they unambiguously refused to entertain the grievances.
"One of the senior official of JKPSC asked the aspirants to take up the matter with the Deputy Commissioner of concerned district and appealed them to not depute them for election duty", an aspirant said. He asked: "Without any notification from government or the PSC, how will the individuals approach DC and why he would listen to grievance of all the candidates?"
They further said that if there would be some notification from the government, then the aspirants would ultimately get relief.
A senior official of JKPSC, pleading anonymity said that they have not received any representation from the aspirants. "If Commission will receive any representation from the aspirants, their issue will be discussed in the Commission and if their grievances would be found genuine, the issue would be taken up with the government for giving relaxation to the in-service candidates", the official said.
