Jammu, Oct 30: In a first, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu today caught red handed the PA to Superintending Engineer (SE), Office of the Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Jammu while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 13000 from the complainant Daler Singh for issuance of "D" Contractor License.
Spokesman of vigilance organization said that a complaint was lodged by one S. Daler Singh alongwith S. Raghubans Singh against PA to Superintending Engineer (SE), Office of Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) regarding demand of Rs. 20,000 for issuance of License.
"It was stated by the complainant that he had applied for the issuance of the contractor License but the PA to Superintending Engineer (SE) demanded an amount of Rs. 20,000 for the issuance of the same. However, the amount of Rs. 13,000 was settled as final", said spokesman.
The complainant approached the Anti Corruption Bureau, Jammu branch with a complaint that action under rules may be taken at the earliest against the said PA.
A formal case FIR No. 34/2018 u/s 5(1) (d) r/w Sec. 5(2) P.C Act Svt. 2006 and Sec. 4-A of P.C Act was registered at police station VOJ and a trap team of the officers/officials of police station VOJ was constituted for the purpose, which laid a successful trap and apprehended the accused Jagdeep Singh of Sarwal, Jammu, PA to Superintending Engineer (SE) in the Office of Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Jammu, red handed, while demanding and accepting the illegal gratification of Rs. 13,000 from the complainant in presence of the independent witnesses. The accused was arrested on the spot and further investigation was taken up.
