Early Times Report

KUPWARA, Nov 5: Some years back, a local resident of Awoora had willingly donated a piece of land for school building, but after some unwanted interference by the locals, scores of children from the village had left the elementary education.
According to sources, there was a school in Awoora village namely, Detached Primary Wing (DPW) School Awoora, and this primary school was detached from High School Awoora, of zone Trehgam in this north Kashmir district.
"The school was shifted to UPS Awoora but its building has been completely damaged by a local who has grabbed some land of the school", sources told early times.
Sources said that, the matter was brought to the notice of the authorities by ZEPO Trehgam but that didn't work as some relatives of the land grabber supported him.
Sources said that, the school is non functional from past three years, while as fact of the matter is more than 40 students were enrolled, and students were shifted to UPS Awoora.
The condition of building is so bad, that it can collapse in the wintering months, but the department of education has failed to repair the school building.
Local residents of Awoora said that many children have dropped out as they were not willing to go to other school.
It is pertinent to mention here that Awoora has more than 15 thousand population with four Panchayat Halqas. There is one High School that has not been upgraded so far.
Now people have requested higher authorities of school education department to intervene into the matter, so that the school building is repaired and made fully functional.
