DHs, SDHs across Jammu run without Hepatitis-B vaccine

JAMMU, Nov 26: The district hospitals and sub-district hospitals across Jammu region run without hepatitis vaccine for the past few months forcing the partients to buy the drug from the open market. However, the concerned authorities maintain that the Pentvalant vaccine has been
Pertinently, in Jammu region there is one Province hospital, 10 District hospitals, 30 Sub District Hospital (CHC) but all are running without much-needed Hepatitis B vaccine for past few months and maximums hospitals have brought the matter into the notice of the concerned department but nothing has been done so far resulting the needy are suffering a lot.
"We have run out of aforesaid vaccine for last few months and the matter was taken up with the concerned," a senior doctor seeking anonymity said. He also said that as per officials, the hospitals do not have enough stock to cater to the requirement of the needy and they have compelled to buy outside the hospitals.
He also said few hospitals have stock of the Hepatitis B but it would be run without stock by ending this month and some other vaccinations are also not available in these hospitals due to poor performance of Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited as well as concerned authorities and doctors were left with no option but to ask the patient to buy these items from open markets.
When contacted Director Family Welfare MCH and Immunization Dr Arun Sharma confirmed that the vaccine of Hepatitis B was out of stock and Government of India would supply the same shortly. He also said that the Pentavalent vaccine was available but some hospitals were not picking up from the stores.
