Tough days ahead for Dogra Swabhiman Sangthan

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 26: More tough days are ahead for the leaders of Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan, as many of the Sarpanch candidates, either backed by Sangathan or holding close allegiance to its president have lost in the panchayat elections.
According to sources many of the Sarpanch candidates in the Basohli constituency, which is home turf of DSS president, Choudhary Lal Singh and is also considered as strong hold of Singh, have lost in the Panchayati elections, despite having full support of the President of DSS.
Some of these staunch supporters of Singh, fighting elections in various blocks of Basohli Assembly constituency include Punjab Singh from Panchayat Tredeon, Des Raj from panchayt Kagrorh, Om Parkash from Panchayat Bhoond, Kulbhushan from Panchayat Plakh, sarpanch candidate from Draman.
Moreover wife of Chamel Singh, who was close lieutenant of Singh, Nek Ram from Panchayat Sola, wife of Ker Singh from Panchayat Hote, Shoka from panchayat Draman, Sarpanch candidate from Thein Panchayat.
One such panchayat was Dhana, where three candidates were contesting elections against one candidate Raju. Sources said that all the contesting candidates, except Raju were close to Singh including Pritam Singh, Prem Singh and Sanjay Singh but all of them lost the elections. "Only three phase of panchayat elections have completed in the state, which showed a disturbing trends for DSS leaders as their candidates have not failed to attract voters and if similar would be the situation in the remaining phase of elections, it would be difficult for DSS to gain ground in Jammu", sources said.
Pertinently, the candidates backed by DSS in the local body elections had also lost and had failed to gain control of even one Municipal Committee. "If same will be the trend for DSS backed candidates, then there seems very tough days ahead for DSS and their programme", sources said.
