NYK organizes 2 day block level sports tournament

KATHUA, Nov 26: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kathua has organized two days "Block Level Sports Tournament" at Play Ground of Government Primary School, Chhaper Hiranagar on theme " No Drugs - No Rash Driving. In the tournament Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Short put, 100 Mtr. race and long jump competition were organized in which 22 teams participated. In the volleyball tournament in Ist Semifinal Hiranagar More defeated to Upper Mela and 2nd Semifinal Gurha Mundian defeated Bhiya team and sequare place in final. In the final match Gurha Mundian lifted trophy by defeating Hiranagar More team and awarded trophy and Rs.1000 as cash prize and Rs.500 to the runner up.
In kabaddi Match in final Chadwal Kabaddi club defeated Sajana Club 46:32 Points and lifted the trophy and Cash Prize of Rs.1000/ and Rs. 500 to the runner up. Ravinder Singh SDPO Boarder was the Chief Guest and conferred to prizes to the winner,in his address he highlighted the importance of sports for physical, mental, emotional, personality development and social contacts. As per the theme of tournament No durgs-No rash driving, he appealed to the Public and Youth to be vigilant to get rid of drugs menace from Kathua district. Active participation in sports and with willpower say no to drugs and careful while driving and check the speed. To check and control drugs, it is top priority of the Police and vigilant society can help a great extend in controlling the drugs supply. Som Datt Zard, DYC highlighted the objectives of the sports tournaments to involve more and more youth and building sports culture in rural areas, NYK will provide free sports kits to sports clubs.
