BISS organizes national seimar

Jammu, Dec 2: Bhartiyta Itihas Sankaln Smiti (BISS) organised one day nation seminar on "Jammu and Kashmir - Itihas Ewam Sanskriti" at Jai Kargil Sabhakar, Amphala.
According to press release, Dr. Balmukund Pandey, Akhil Bhartiya Sangathan Mantri, Akhil Bhatriya Itihas Sankalan Yojna was the Chief Guest and Maj. Gen. Goverdhan Singh Jamwal was the keynote speaker of the occasion. Brig. Suchet Singh presided over the seminar.
Dr. Pandey said that history needed to be written in an unbiased perspective. He also laid stress on constructing regional history for rewriting unbiased national history.
Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal in his keynote speech said that history of Dogras either not highlighted or whatever account written is distorted. He also dwelt on need of glorifying the military achievements of Dogras. Brig. Suchet Singh in his presidential remarks said that people of Jammu and Kashmir has contributed in protecting the land since ancient times.
Earlier Prof. Anita Billawaria, President, Bhartiyta Itihas Sankaln Smiti - Jammu & Kashmir Chapter in her formal address dwelt on the need of such seminars which dig into forgotten valour and glory of this state. She also insisted that woman historians should also contribute in history writing. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Neelam Sarin and Sanjeev Gupta at inaugural and valedictory sessions respectively.
In the seminar around 20 papers were presented in two sessions by the academicians from various educational institutes across the nation. Dr. Prashant Gaurav and Prof. Lalit Gupta chaired the first and second sessions respectively.
