Udhampur, Dec 2: Continuing its war on drugs, Udhampur police today recovered 420 kg of contraband substance (poppy straw) and arrested three narcotic smugglers at Udhampur.
Rayees Mohammad Bhat-SSP Udhampur said that based on reliable information, a party of Udhampur police station led by Inspector Sanjeev Chib-SHO Udhampur and in coordination with Inspector Ajay Bhat under the supervision of Zahid Saif Wani-DySP Hqrs. Udhampur raised a naka at Jakheni, Udhampur for checking of vehicles.
"During naka checking, police party stopped one truck bearing registration number JK03B-9363 which was subjected to thorough search," said SSP adding that on search of said vehicle, 420 kg poppy straw was recovered.
Three persons identified as Sukhwinder Singh of Philore, Jalandhar Punjab, Lakhwinder Singh and Vikram Singh of Ramban were arrested on spot and poppy straw recovered from their possession while vehicle involved in the smuggling of narcotics was also seized. In this connection, a case under FIR No. 573/18 under section 8/15 NDPS has been registered in Udhampur police station and further investigation of the case is on. |
