USTA discusses present education scenario, plight of teaching community
12/2/2018 9:55:45 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 2: A meeting of J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) held at Jammu under the chairmanship of Provincial President Hari Singh, to discuss the present education scenario and plight of the teaching community.
While speaking on the occasion provincial president condemned the state govt. over its attitude of prolonged neglect towards education department in general and teachers working under SSA/RMSA scheme in particular. It is a matter of great resentment, discrimination and violation of human rights by govt. itself that salary of teachers, masters and headmasters working under SSA/RMSA schemes delayed for more than five months and govt. deliberately not adhearing the universally accepted principle of disbursing wages on the last day of the month. It is very unfortunate that govt. hoodwink the teaching community by announcing and assuring to release 7th pay commission with the salary of Sept. 2018, although its implementation seems nowhere.
The meeting expresses its anguish over the matter that IGNOU in convenience with state govt. is resorting to open loot under the pretext of imparting B.Ed. degree to a large number of untrained in-service teachers. It is evidence of the actual practice that by now no teaching material are academic assistance has been provided to such teachers although hefty fee has been already charged, besides no conduct programme has been organised. Even the institutions are not giving preparatory leave to the teachers as such process has become a mockery itself.
USTA further expresses its strong concern over the denial of senior teacher grade to trained under graduate teachers as they used to be promoted as senior teachers, but no such promotion has been made after 2007. USTA further expresses its great anguish over the unwanted delay in the process of regularization of promotee lecturers, headmasters and ZEO's etc. as well as RET's who have completed their five years of unregularized service.
USTA therefore calls upon the state govt. specially Advisor to the Governor to take serious view of the situation on the ground and redress the long pending demands of the teaching community otherwise they will be compelled to resort agitational path in near future responsibility of which will lie on the shoulders of the govt.
Others who were present in the meeting included Rajeev Kumar, Kanta Devi, Zulfkar Ali Malik, Roop Chand, Pardeep Singh, Raj Kumar, Sunil Thapa, Bashir Ahmed, Siraju Din, Balwant Singh, Angadh Singh, Madan Singh, Shangara Singh and Thuru Ram.
