Re-polling in Gunan, Samote halqas on Dec 8

Rajouri, Dec 6: Re-polling in ward No 1( Gunan) and ward No.2 (upper Samote) in Panchyat halqa Samote in Rajnagar block in Rajouri district will take place on December 8 as per directions from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K.
The polling for the panchyat was held during 7th phase but due to wrong printing of ballot papers the polling for these two panch constituencies was cancelled and the polling for the sarpanch seat remained continue even in these two wards.
Immediately after the announcement of cancellation of polling in ward No.1 & 2, most of the voters left for home, as per media reports, but the authorities claimed that the voting for sarpanch seats was held peacefully in ward No.1 & 2.
On the complaint of the contesting candidates for the seat of sarpanch , the election authorities also cancelled the polling for the sarpanch seat in these wards.
Now, as per new directions, the polling for sarpanch as well as for two seats of panch will be held on December 8 in ward No.1 & 2 in Samote panchayat halqa.
Meanwhile , vide Chief Electoral Officer's communication No 6467/CEO/Pyt/2018/5045 dt 6/12/18, District Panchayat Election Officer, M.A Asad (who is also DC) has appointed Vaid Prakash , ADC, Kotranka an inquiry officer for the reasons for error/fault in the printing of ballot papers.
He has been directed to submit his factual report within two days for further submission to higher authorities.
