Rehabilitation of politicians begins in Guv led admin as Dr Hina appointed as Chairperson of KVIB

SRINAGAR, Dec 6: In a first step towards the rehabilitation of politicians by the Governor Satya Pal Malik led state administration a former defeated candidate of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) was today appointed as Vice Chairperson of Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB).
Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat who lost the 2014 assembly election from the Amira Kadal constituency was appointed as Vice Chairperson of KVIB. Along with Dr. Hina nine other members were appointed to KVIB. Dr. Hina had lost the election to Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and former minister, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari.
An official spokesman said that the Governor's administration today accorded sanction to the appointment of Vice Chairperson including non-official members in the constitution of Board of Directors of J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB). According to the order issued by Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Shailendra Kumar, Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat D/O Mohammad Shafi Bhat shall be the Vice Chairperson of the KVIB. The members of KVIB are Sanjeev Kumar Manmotra son of Jagdish Raj, Imtiyaz Ahmad son of Mirza Mohammad Sidiq, Rajesh Gupta son of Kasturi Lal Gupta, Farooq Amin son of Mohammad Amin, Ravinder Singh son of Sant Singh, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Gojwari son of Mohammad Abdulah Gojwari, Munshi Muzaffar Hussain son of Munshi Safadar Ali, Mushtaq Ahmad Qureshi son of Mohammad Qasim Qureshi and Rajesh Kumar Bakshi son of Gureharan Bakshi.
Sources told Early Times that the reconstitution of KVIB is a step by the state administration to rehabilitate some of the politicians as well as influential people on some of the important positions in the state. They said that many more steps might be taken in the near future in the state.
"There are bright chances that the present state administration would rehabilitate many more politicians by nominating them as vice-chairperson to various autonomous bodies in the state. As such it is expected that more such orders would be issued in the near future by the State Administrative Council," said sources.
The J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board is a statutory board established under Act No: XVI of 1965 called as "J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board Act 1965" with the aim to encourage, organize, develop and regulate Khadi and Village Industries in the state. Principal Act was amended by an Act No: IV of 1966 called as " J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board ( Amendment ) Act, 1966" and further amended by an Act No: III of 1973 called as "J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board ( Amendment ) Act 1973"
The broad objectives that KVIB has set before it are social objective of providing employment, economic objective of producing saleable articles, wider objective of creating self-reliance amongst the poor and building up of a strong rural community spirit.
The KVIB is charged with the planning, promotion, organization and implementation of programmes for the development of Khadi and other village industries in the rural areas with the support of State Government and Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
