jammu, Dec 15: An Executive Engineer (XEn), Rural Engineering Wing (REW) was allegedly assaulted by his colleagues during a meeting called by Director General, Rural Development Jammu at Panchyat Bhawan this morning.
According to sources, XEn REW Udhampur, Bashir Ahmed Sheikh assaulted his colleague XEn Ashok Kumar Pargotra for reportedly highlighting scandals in the department. "A meeting of ACDs, DPOs and XEns from all districts of Jammu divisions was called by Director General, Rural Development Jammu. As per sources privy to the incident, as Ashok Kumar reached at meeting venue, Bashir Ahmed Sheik grabbed him and started thrashing him", sources said.
They further said that several officers on spot rescued him from the clutches of Bashir Ahmed. "He (Pargotra) immediately rushed to Police Station Trikuta Nagar and submitted his complaint", they added.
Sources further said that Pargotra exposed alleged embezzlement committed by Bashir Ahmed Sheikh as XEn Samba, Ramban and now at Udhampur. "XEn Sheikh has embezzled huge public money, by making purchases of material on exorbitant rates that too for sub standard materials, but instead of taking action against the corrupt officers, department victimised Pargotra and attached him", they added.
When contacted, Pargotra, admitted that he was attacked by his colleague during an official meeting. "Under well knit conspiracy in an attempt to muzzle my voice against his malpractice, he attacked me", he said and added that however, the Director General RDD Jammu was not present when the incident took place.
"I rushed to Police Station and submitted by my complaint, when I returned at Panchyat Bhawan, I narrated entire incident to the DG, but so far no action has been taken", he said and added that he had exposed many scandals in the department, therefore a of lobby of 'goons' was trying its best to keep me silent.
SHO Trikuta Nagar, Parvez Sajjad when contacted he said that on basis of complaint submitted by XEn Ashok Kumar Pargotra a case of threatening against Bashir Ahmed Sheikh has been registered. Director General RDD Jammu, did not answer repeated phone calls.
