Jammu, Dec 23:Neeraj Gupta zonal President JKNPP with the help of local people, his supporters etc. organized a programme at JDA Park Trikuta Nagar Opposite RBI to pay tribute to the First Prime Minister of J&K Mehr Chand Mahajan on his birth anniversary.
The people who were present on the occasion was senior and respectable members from various sections of societies, women and children were also present on the occasion. Gupta said that Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan was the first prime minister of Jammu & Kashmir during 15 october 1947 -5 March 1942 (142 days) the reign of Maharaja Hari Singh and played a key role in the accession of J&K to India.
Gupta said that Mehr Chand Mahajan was also the third Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India and also a social activist and writer who work for the welfare of people of India. He played a key role in the Kashmir accession to India. He had written three famous books titled "Preserving Unity of India", "Increase Food Production", "Kashmir's Accession to India".
Gupta said that it is very unfortunate that we have no time to remember our hero's who had sacrificed and contributed their life for the welfare of the people and the country. He said that we demand that Govt. should declare holiday on the birth anniversary of the first prime minister of J&K. The people who were present on the occasion was include Jagdish Singh Baryal, Sunil Verma, Amar Chand, Devinder Singh, Ravinder Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Parmanand etc.
