Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 23: With no let up in complaints against the Cluster University of Srinagar, in the latest complaints, some of the CUS officials have been accused of "minting millions" in the name of providing heating arrangements in the classrooms.
Sources said the colleges falling under the CUS are misleading the Raj Bhawan over heating arrangements in the classrooms. Sources said the institutions including SP College, AS College and Degree College Bemina here are preparing a "fraudulent documents" about the heating arrangements whereby some of the concerned will "mint millions."
Officials said as per the government norms, the colleges had to provide heating arrangements in the classrooms from November 15. But as per the teachers and the students, no heating arrangements were in place for a month till second week of December.
After a series of stories done by the Early Times, the Grievance Cell of the Raj Bhawan had taken cognizance of the complaints asking the colleges to start heating arrangements.
As per complainants, the colleges subsequently started bukharis but only in some of the selected classrooms where "influential teach" .
"Only half of the classrooms were provided heating arrangements that too from December 10 whereas the Raj Bhawan is now being wrongly told that heating arrangements were already in place in all the classes since November 15," said a delegation of teachers from Amar Singh college.
The teachers said despite filing a written representation, the college principal didn't provide any heating in most of the classrooms. "We the staff and the students were shivering in cold when the college closed for winter break on December 22," the teachers said.
They said the college had provided bukharis only in the selected classrooms where regular government employees teach whereas the classrooms where contractual teachers teach were left to fend for themselves.
A source in the administrative office said some of the officials are getting fake bills prepared about the procurement of Bukharis and the firewood utilized only to allegedly raise personal fortunes.
"Most of those working in the CUS are Sufarshi people and thus they know nobody will verify the facts and thus minting money has become a norm," said a delegation of teachers.
When contacted a CUS official said that matter would be looked into.
Meanwhile the concerned have appealed Governor SP Malik to personally look into the matter and order a probe.
