Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 23: Amidst speculations over timing of the forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP ideologue Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is learnt to have suggested the party high command to delay the polls for at least one year.
According to the reliable sources, RSS has expressed its reservations over holding of the assembly polls along with forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, which are likely to be held between in April-May, next year. Contrary to the speculations of holding Assembly polls along with Lok Sabha elections, sources said that RSS has clearly told the BJP high command that simultaneous elections would severely effect that party prospects in not only Jammu Kashmir but also at the national level.
While elaborating, sources said that the RSS has conducted a secret survey in Jammu, the stronghold of BJP, where majority people have favoured continuation of President's rule for at least one year to ensure justice to people of this region to some extent in respect of development, employment and political empowerment. The majority opinion was that the initiation of political process for Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir State would derail the recently started projects besides affecting the security situation, which has started showing the signs of improvement in the recent days following elimination of a number of top terrorists. Even slight deterioration in the security situation would severely affect the BJP image at national level and the party cannot afford the same before Lok Sabha elections, sources added.
Further, since the local issues dominate Assembly polls and the State BJP leaders had utterly failed to deliver during the coalition Government with PDP, RSS fears that in case of simultaneous elections, it would not be easy to make it Modi versus Rahul.
Besides the RSS survey, sources said that the intelligence agencies have also sounded the BJP high command that in case of simultaneous polls, it would be difficult for the party to get even 15 seats in the State Assembly.
