Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 25: In place like Jammu, where law and order situation continues to be fragile, two vital posts in Police Department have been vacant for over a month. "Posts of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu and Senior Superintendent of Police, Vigilance have been deliberately kept vacant by the higher authority", said sources in Jammu and Kashmir Home Department. Charge of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu has been given to Dr Vivek Gupta who has been recently promoted as incharge Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police, Jammu-Kathua-Samba (JKS) Range while the charge of SSP Vigilance Jammu has been given to SSP Vigilance Rajouri-Poonch-Reasi Amit Gupta after former SSP Vigilance Jammu Suleman Choudhary promoted and posted as incharge DIG Udhampur-Reasi (UR) Range over one month ago. "Public dealing has been suffering a lot due to these make shift arrangements by the authorities", said sources in police department adding that it indicates that something fishy is cooking up in the power corridors.
Posting of cops for these two posts has now become talk of the town as from one month these posts are lying vacant.
Sources questioned that if there is sufficient number of Indian Police Officers (IPS) and promoted officers eligible for these posts then why these posts have been kept vacant deliberately.
