Early Times Report
udhampur, Dec 25: Attribute it to the lack of administrative will on part of the officials concerned, the assertions of the government schemes which claim free treatment under Ayushman Bharat, Free House under Housing for all, BPL Ration Cards for needy and poor masses have fallen flat in reality as such schemes were still far from the needy and poor masses who actually deserve their benefits.
The story of Munshi Ram son of Balak Ram resident of Tikri mocks at such schemes as despite being handicapped and extremely poor, he has received no benefit of any of these schemes.
Munshi Ram became victim of a mysterious fungal/ skin infection three years ago which left him amputated. While he was handicapped, his three school going daughters have been left with nothing to fend for themselves.
Rajni daughter of Munshi Ram while talking said that she had to discontinue her studies as the family was left with nothing. She said that they approached several government officers, but got no financial assistance for her father or the family "The only help we received was from the neighbours and other people" she said.
Interestingly, despite being so poor, the family does not have a BPL ration card. "I struggled a lot to get a BPL ration card, but while many who did were not eligible got it, I was denied it" he said.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Ravinder Kumar while talking said, "the family was provided some assistance through Red cross and we shall try to help them as much as possible" he said.
