12/25/2018 10:53:35 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 25: Even as two former bureaucrats have left the Peoples Democratic Party, their government service tenure has been under scanner and to "keep their frauds hidden" they have decided to join National Conference.
Official sources said both the officials during their services were accused of large scale corruption worth millions.
While one of the bureaucrats-turned-politicians was a prime accused in the infamous Gulmarg land scam, the other one has been even accused of having swindled the aid worth millions meant for victims of calamities.
Sources said both the former officials had joined PDP hoping that the cases of corruption against them would be "diluted".
"But now both of them apprehend that leaving PDP would invite trouble and thus have decided to join the other party so that some sort of political Ashirwad remains on their heads," said a source close to the duo.
It was reliably learnt both the leaders have been in contact with the National Conference and were likely to join the party in the coming days.
Sources said the two have conveyed to the NC that they would join the party only if they are given a good "political package."
Sources said ahead of joining the party, the two would hold separate meetings with Dr Farooq Abdullah or his son Omar Abdullah at Bathindi Jammu to "settle the deal."
Sources said the two have told the NC leadership to give a guarantee that cases of corruption against the duo will not be opened if the party comes to power.
One of the two, a former IAS officer had joined the party prior to the 2014 assembly polls after his retirement and had unsuccessfully contested the elections from Jammu region
The said person had been touch with a BJP leader who also announced his resignation from the basic membership of the saffron party. He too is likely to join the NC.
Sources said the other former officer who was also a cricketer, is demanding a MLA ticket from Doda region in the upcoming assembly elections.
In the last one month, around one dozen senior PDP leaders have left the party to join the NC or the Peoples Conference led by Sajjad Lone.
Despite repeated attempts the two former officials couldn't be contacted for comments.
