| Court awards 11 months imprisonment in attempt to forgery case | | |

JAMMU, Jan 15: CJM Samba Ajay Gupta today awarded 11 months imprisonment to Sanjeev Kumar son of Subash Chander R/o Ward No. 8 Kathua Tehsil and District Kathua who was facing trial in attempt to forgery case.
CJM Samba Ajay Gupta observed that the accused has made the confession before the court and has prayed for a lenient view to be taken in his favour. Thus the approach of the Court should be that the punishment imposed should be only to reform the accused and to make him understand that he should not repeat the offence in future.
In the present case as the accused has confessed, thus a lenient view of the matter is taken in favour of the accused only to make him understand that he will not repeat the offence in future.
The accused is accordingly sentenced to undergo a simple imprisonment for the period of eleven months and is further sentenced to pay a fine of Rs. 4000/ and in the default of payment of fine the accused shall further undergo the simple imprisonment for a period of twenty five days. |
