Jammu, Jan 15: On Monday, J&K Governor SP Malik claimed that "there is nothing like Operation All Out" and said that "some people are using this wrong term". He made these statements in Jammu while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function. A couple of days ago, NC president Farooq Abdullah had said that the NC, if voted power in the upcoming elections, will not support "Operation All Out".
The Governor's claim that there was nothing like "Operation all out" is not consistent with what senior officials had said on June 22, 2017.
According to reports that emanated from New Delhi on June 22, 2017, "the country's top security establishment has prepared a blueprint to deliver a lethal blow to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir with a long-term plan for a lasting peace in the trouble-torn Valley". The reports were based on the claims of "senior officials".
The reports had said: "As many as 258 militants from a clutch of outfits have been shortlisted for Operation All-Out that has been launched strategically in parts of the region…Prime locations of terrorist activities were mapped well before the exercise got a go-ahead, the sources revealed. Intelligence agencies carried out a secret district-wise survey to identify militant hideouts".
The reports had further said: "This strategic operation is based on meticulous planning and intelligence-gathering. As many as 130 local and 128 foreign terrorists have been identified as potential targets in the current operation…They belong to different terror groups, such as Lashkar, Jaish, Hizbul and Al- Badr".
"According to a breakdown of the plan, most of the terrorists on the new security hit list belong to the LeT. As many as 136 Lashkar militants are on the radar followed by 95 from Hizbul and 23 from Jaish," the reports had further said. |
