Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 14: Vomedh Rangmanch once again enthralled the Jammu audience through its popular play 'Khoya Bachpan' reliving the lost childhood of the children of Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims due to Kashmir turmoil.
The powerful performance left the jam-packed audience spell bound with many of them in tears at Abhinav Theatre here on Monday.
The play is written by Rakesh Roshan Bhat and Directed by Rohit Bhat of famous 'Ek Aur Birbal, 'Chopayer Yei Gaash' and Ateeth Ke Sakhshi' fame.
Based on a true story 'Khoya Bachpan' is an introspective and reflective story of how parents think it is their prerogative to push innocent kids into their disputes and conflicts. They dump all their unfulfilled wishes into their innocent impressionable minds. All then that remains is the lost childhood - ' Khoya Bachpan'.
The first and most affected victims of any conflict are children. Whether the conflict is inside the home or outside it, it is the children who have to pay the price. Ironically, they get embroiled into conflict without knowing it.
Altaf, a young Kashmiri Muslim kid comes to Jammu for his treatment alongwith his father Muzaffar. They stay at the house of their family friend Surender, a Kashmiri Pandit, whose daughter's wedding is in progress. Altaf is a stone pelter in Kashmir. He has never seen life outside Kashmir. He feels that is what the norm is. But when he meets the Kashmiri Pandit kids living in forced exile in Jammu, he sees there is much more to life. He questions himself - is he doing willingly what he is doing there in Kashmir.
The group does not endorse any particular political ideology or thought. They are just a group of conscientious and passionate theaterists trying to evoke positivism, self-introspection and integrity through their plays.
A number of politicians, social activists, bureaucrats, academicians, theatrists and theatre lovers witnessed the powerful presentation for the fourth time and loved the concept and the brilliant performances by the artists.
Prominent among those who witnessed today's performance include Naveen Kumar, National Spokesperson BJP, Vimal Manchanda, President Media Federation J&K, Kiran Watal President VKS, Aziz Hajini, Secretary Cultural Academy, Dr Sandeep Mawa well known businessman and social activist, Ramesh Hangloo, CEO Radio Shardha, MK Yogi, President Minority Cell, NC, Dr Yudhvir Gupta, Virender Kuchroo, Counsellor, and Sh. Mohan Lal SSP J&K Police.
