1/16/2019 9:54:07 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 16: The 300-km long Srinagar-Jammu highway is open for one-way traffic despite heavy snowfall across Kashmir on Wednesday.
The Srinagar-Jammu highway is open and traffic was plying from Srinagar to Jammu while other major highways remained closed for traffic, police said on Twitter.
"Road Status: #Srinagar-Jammu highway open, Traffic plying from Srinagar to #Jammu; Srinagar-Kargil road Closed; Anantnag-Kishtwar road Closed; Mughal Road closed; Bandipora-Gurez road closed; Kupwara-Karnah, Kupwara-Keran, Kupwara-Machail roads closed. @JmuKmrPolice," Police tweeted.
Fresh snowfall began today morning at many places across the valley including summer capital Srinagar, breaking the intense cold wave conditions.
Weatherman has predicted another heavy spell of snow from Saturday, which he said could disrupt surface and air connectivity to the valley.
Air traffic was suspended from Srinagar International Airport and several flights were cancelled on Wednesday following light to moderate snowfall and poor visibility.
This is the third time in January that air traffic was suspended from Srinagar airport due to snowfall.
Several incoming and outgoing flights from the Srinagar airport were suspended following fresh snowfall since Wednesday morning,? an Airport official said.
However, he said three morning flights operated normally from Srinagar airport, which is the only airport in Kashmir valley.
Passengers, who had reached airport from different parts of the valley, were waiting though a notice has been issued by the airport authority that there is no chance of operating any flight until weather improves.
A number of traders said passengers travelling from Srinagar airport face similar situation every winter and Government has failed to address this issue.
A Met department spokesperson said light to moderate rain and snow would occur during the next 24 hours at many places in Kashmir valley under the influence of a Western Disturbance (WD), which is active in the region.
Air traffic was suspended for two days from January 4 due to snowfall and poor visibility while it was again affected on January 12.
