Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 16: The retired government employees need pension and other legal support in their old age that could help them to live a comfortable life, however there are scores of state employees who have been denied pension arrears much to their discomfort.
According to sources, there are scores of pensioners who believe that there has been an inordinate delay in settlement of pension revision cases thus adding to the woes of the senior citizens of the state.
Pensioners are also senior citizens and need necessary support in their old age, quality health care is possible only if they have money and resources, said sources.
Sources said that the pensioners have allege that, the state government and the officials at the Accountant General (AG) office are paying deaf ear to their woes and with the result it adds more miseries in their problems.
Sources said that, the AG office used to be swift in disposing of pension revision cases during the tenure of former Governor N N Vohra, while as in the current reign the administration have gone very tardy and lackadaisical and due to which pensioners are facing tremendous problems in their day today lives.
"In spite of completing all formalities, AG Office is still unmoved and sanction of cases with related to pensioners are still pending. We are always given a false hope that their pension arrears will be cleared in a week's time, but nothing has been done so for, said sources.
Few days back we had visited pension office, but we were asked to wait for some time, as the software that are used for updating and other work has got damaged, and they believes that, the office is completing the cases of those pensioners that they are receiving directly from pensioners, while as the cases received through treasuries are yet pending, sources while quoting the pensioners said.
However sources further said that the Governor Administration pay only Rs 300/ as medical allowances, where as the pensioners have suggest that the medical allowance for pensioners should be from Rs 2000-3000/.
The pensioners have also requested the governor administration to intervene into the matter so that they will get the pension arrears without any further delay, sources told Early Times.
