JKNPP emerges as viable alternative for Dogras, Jammuites
1/16/2019 11:11:07 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 16: The fall of Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) coalition government in June last year and its multifaceted consequences on the political spectrum across the state particularly Jammu region, where a sense of betrayal and discrimination always hogs the limelight ever since J&K acceded to the Union of India, are being felt more vigorously than ever before.
The people of Jammu province had given a massive mandate to the BJP which paved way for the saffron party to stitch an alliance with the PDP to enter the corridors of power in the state for the first time. The Jammuites had pinned high hopes on the BJP but it was not to be as the party bowed before the dictates of the PDP. The Dogras, in particular, were quite optimistic that the BJP would break the shackles and end the domination of Kashmiri politicians and political parties after it assumed the office along with its coalition partner.
However, the saffron party instead of acting like a dominant and forceful partner played a second fiddle to the PDP thereby compromising the interests of the people of Jammu in the process.
And, the coalition of contradictions fell on a bitter note on June 19 last leading to imposition of Governor's rule and then extended as President's rule on the midnight of December 19 last.
Now, that the elections to the State Legislative Assembly are imminent and could be held within next three-four months, the Jammuites are looking for a viable alternative from the time tested Congress and the BJP, who always boasts of championing the cause of Jammu.
Under such a situation, one party which could prove out to be a resurgent force and an option for the Jammu people is Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) as this regional outfit has always remained in the forefront of vociferously raising the issues concerning Jammuites.
The JKNPP had always made it a point to fight for the respect and dignity of Jammu people besides time and again it also forcefully raised the issue of having a Chief Minister of the state from Jammu division.
The party all through these years also strongly opposed the illegal settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu and held several agitations for the deportation of immigrants. It also raised the banner of support for the demand of CBI probe into infamous Rasana case and highlighted the botched up investigation done by the Crime Branch.
The party also struggled hard to highlight the problems being faced by the retired paramilitary personnel and SRTC employees besides it also brought forward the plight of border people and extended its all out support for granting reservation in jobs for the youth of border areas and provision of adequate compensation to the victims of Pakistan shelling.
Panthers Party also taken up the issue of cancelling all pending FIRs registered against the army personnel in Kashmir Valley besides it also raised the issue of discrimination with the youth of Jammu in employment avenues from time to time. The party did not hasten to agitate against the JKPSC and JKSSB for equal share in government jobs for Jammu youth.
The party also held several protest demonstrations against the meek surrender of the BJP over the sensitive issues of revocation of Article 370 and Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution.
JKNPP also determinedly raised the issue of adopting a resolution of renaming Hari Parbat as Koh-e-Mara and Bahu Fort as Shahabad by the erstwhile PDP-BJP coalition government and the party also held agitations to withdraw cases registered against nationalist people during the Amarnath land agitation of 2008.
The JKNPP having strong foothold in Jammu region is taking up the issues related to Jammu and its people with all its might and resources under the leadership of its patron Prof Bhim Singh, chairman Harsh Dev Singh, state president Balwant Singh Mankotia and President Young Pathers Yash Pal Kundal.
With elections to the State Legislative Assembly not far away, the Jammuites will not have to wait much for the day of reckoning, the time when past mistakes or misdeeds of the parties like the Congress and the BJP must be punished or paid for as both these political groups betrayed the people of Jammu and failed to fulfill their hopes and aspirations.
Moreover, the JKNPP, a loud and honest voice of Jammuites, has rejuvenated itself to such a level that the general masses of Jammu province are looking up to it with high hopes. The people of Jammu are looking forward to JKNPP for ending their miseries and eclipse the Kashmiri leadership's domination.
