CUJ conducts first Sports Advisory council meeting

JAMMU, Jan 16: In order to promote sports excellence and to formulate a long term sports policy , the Central University Jammu conducted a first Advisory Council meeting at main campus Bagla .
The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor of CUJ ,Prof. Ashok Aima who briefed about various achievements and initiatives taken by Central University of Jammu. A council constituting of top sports achievers and experts of International Standing from the state comprised Ranjeet Kalra ,Co- chairman of the council and Advisor for Sports Government of Lakshdweep, Haji Abdul Qayoom, Chief Sports Officer J&K Sports Council , Ashok Kumar Dir. Sports Shrine Board ,Katra , SP Singh Senior officer J&K State Sports Council , Rajesh Dhar, Senior Sports Correspondent Daily Excelsior , Surinder Singh Bunty ,Resident Secretary J&K Football Association , Sh,Surinder Singh Badal ,Senior Sports person, Iqbal Singh ,National Player, Dr.Vandana Sharma , Director Physical Education CUJ ,Dr. Ajay Singh , Dr. Aman and Dr. Vikas Shrivastav. The meet begun with a formal welcome address by Prof. Deepak Pathania ,Chairman Sports Council CUJ , who also briefed the mandate of the council and put forward several agendas to be discussed.The major agendas discussed in the meet were to formulate the annual calendar for various sports events and activities, to discuss possibility regarding establishment of a temporary indoor stadium within the campus, Hiring of coaches, Discussion over holding of sports-related training workshops, sports camps for students and the faculty (Summers and winters).
The Council members also visited the actual site of Sports complex and Executive Engineer briefed them about the status. The meeting was coordinated by Dr.Bachha Babu ,Member Secretary ,Sports Advisory Council CUJ.
