PDP joining hands with BJP is a sin in Kashmir H
1/16/2019 10:09:08 PM
ad the PDP not framed an alliance which resulted in the formation of a coalition Government the PDP would have definitely fared better than 2014 Assembly poll in which the PDP had secured 28 seats in the Assembly. But there was no option for the PDO except forming a coalition Government with the BJP, which had secured 25 seats. And though late Mufti Sayeed had forged a coalition Government to end regionalism and to ensure that the BJP led Central Government provided sufficient financial aid. But the BJP in the Kashmir valley is a sin and majority of people would not like the RSS ideology. Forget that. Had the coalition been successful in mitigating several problems of the people there could have been pro-coalition wave. But things drifted during the PDP-BJP coalition and the situation in the supply of electricity was horrible with prolonged load shedding Despite these failures the PDP would have done better in the ensuing elections. And if the President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is to be believed she thinhs her party would register victory in the forthcoming polls in the state and win more seats than the previous elections.
Addressing party functionaries, leaders and activists of Chadoora assembly segment, Mehbooba stressed for greater coordination between the workers and the party leaders. Every person associated with the PDP must take party's vision to the common masses of the state and aware them about the PDP's role in defending state's special status and providing a bulwark against the present swirling tides. Mehbooba said that PDP's 'cardinal principle' has always been to safeguard state's unique identity and make favourable ground for dialogue and reconciliation so that the vicious cycle of violence is stopped and peace is made state's inseparable feature.
"The present wave of harassment and intimidation against the youth is only proving calamitous for the state's future and has pushed Kashmir towards bigger problems which if left untouched may result in some disaster.. Instead of harassing and targeting the youth, there is a dire need of dialogue with all stakeholders for resolution of Kashmir," she said.
The PDP president said the Government of India (GoI) has to understand that if it continues with its iron fist approach, Kashmir embargo would continue to hangover its head like the sword of Damocles.
Cry for peace has been learnt from Farooq Abdullah. He too is against operation All out and is a great supporter of talks with not only the separatists but Pakistan too for the resolution of the Kashmir issue. All this is done to strengthen their vote bank and the atmosphere in the Kashmir valley is a cry for peace and end to killing of civilians. There have been agitation and protests, resulting in the killing of civilians, when militants are killed in encounters. This way Mehbooba and Farooq want to regain power and they know that by dishing out people-friendly commitments they may regain power. But this time as far as the wind in Kashmir is concerned it favours Farooq and the National Conference. The only mistake the PDP has done that it joined hands with the BJP, the most hated political party in the valley.
