Excise Department organizes programme on Drug abuse in Jammu

Jammu, Jan 16: Jammu and Kashmir Excise Department organized a social responsibility programme on Drug abuse through street play today at Gole Market Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The programme was organized by J&K Excise department in collaboration with Jammu Wine Traders association and Jammu Bar with Restaurants, Hotel association.
The program was conducted under the social responsibility program by the Excise Department to educate the general masses about the harmful effects of drugs. The program was conducted on the direction of the Excise Commissioner, J&K Government Talat Parvaiz Rohella.
Amarjeet Singh, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu attended the program along with officers and staff of the Excise Department. People from all walks of life attended the function. The Deputy Excise Commissioner briefed the people present about the ill effects of drugs. Members of the Wine Association also attended the programme.
Nav Durga Kala Manch enthralled the audience with their staggering performances. The artists showcased their events which were relevant in the life of drug users. The artists highlighted different phases of drug user life where things turn nasty and ugly for the families and the drug addicts. Nav Durga Kala Manch gave goose bumps to the audience with their act.
Amarjeet Singh, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu said it the step taken up by the Excise department to aware the masses regarding the menace of drug usage. We are doing our bit and it is also the people who should come forward and join hands with us to create drug free environment. It feels quite wretched to see our youth going in this direction but we have to make efforts so that youth do not get deviated. Also we will hold such kind of events in near future also, to educate the masses about the lousy side of drug usage.
