Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Feb 14: The empanelled Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) candidates whose advertisements were advertised eight years ago have protested against the state administration for not issuing engagement orders in their favour.
A group of these candidates told Early Times that some candidates in whose favour only panels were prepared and for some other aspirants tentative list was published and objections were sought in daily newspapers. They said that although office of Director Education Kashmir received no objection, but still then the engagement orders were not issued.
"Some candidates approached the Directorate and concerned ministry but only got hollow assurances and no engagement orders were issued. Even some candidates approached the High Court to seek justice. The court issued directions to the Directorate of School Education for their engagement but unfortunately the orders were not honored," said the candidates.
The candidates said that even some candidates were forced to approach the High Court with the contempt plea and won the same as well but till now got no engagement orders. "We were always shelved on one or another pretext. Sometimes we were given hollow assurances and sometimes we were asked to face screening test," the candidates said.
The candidates said that they were told about the financial implications involved with the process but the finance department answered that there are no financial implications for their posts. When the government failed on all pretexts, state administration came up with formal orders to withheld tour selection process, they said.
"Unfortunately the directorate implemented that order with a proverb 'rules are for fools' and the selection process of blue eyed and relatives of officials and bureaucrats was not stopped and they got their engagement orders and joined the department. Such is the height of injustice in the state," said the candidates.
The candidates warned that they would resort to extreme steps in case the engagement orders are not issued at the earliest. "We warn the state administration that if justice is not delivered in our cases we will be forced to take extreme steps for which state administration will be responsible."
