Early Times Report

Rajouri, Feb 14: An influential Assistant Executive Engineer in Pradhan Mantri Gram Sarak Yojna (PMGSY) posted in tehsil Sunderbani has allegedly been trying to change the alignment of PMGSY road just to appease a former MLA of district Rajouri.
The said engineer has been overstaying in same Sub Division for the last ten years defying transfer policy of the Government as he is blue eyed of the former MLA and his senior officials of the department, to whom he passes on huge commission which he gets from contractors for the works.
"He keeps his bosses in good humour by giving them their share of all illegal works and this is the reason that he has been sitting at one place and executing all misdeeds just to fill his coffers," they alleged.
They further alleged that recently a PMGSY road project amounting Rs 21-22 crore was sanctioned for tehisl Suderbani but this engineer is trying to change the alignment of the road on the behest of the Ex MLA in contravention of the norms of PMGSY.
"It is ridiculous that the same engineer had made the road project himself by conducting survey, which he is now attempting to change after its approval. As per new alignment, the length of the road has been reduced to lower the cost to make more money," they said further adding that his overstay at one place has raised many an eyebrows as he has been defying transfer for the last ten years.
An official in the department preferring anonymity said that such kind of act by the engineer will not be accepted and if all claims were found true, strict action will be taken against the erring engineer.
