As per the details available with ET, 300-400 stranded passengers were evacuated by the administration from Khatika Talab and Gujjar Nagar area while hundreds of others were evacuated from Bhatindi, Sunjwan and other areas of Jammu and all the stranded passengers of valley and Doda and kishtwar were provided security cover upto Ramban and Batote.
Meanwhile several passengers informed ET, that some transporters were fleecing them by charging exorbitantly. The hotelier said that they too were facing problem due to non availability of water and shortage of essential commodities in the area.
"Hotels in the area are fully occupied and we are mostly dependant on private water tanker services which is not available due to continuous curfew. Our underground water tanks have also dried up and we require immediate water supply of private tankers" said a hotelier wishing not to be named.
They urged upon the administration to look into the issue on top priority.
