Early Times Report
Rajouri, Feb 22: Rural Development Department Rajouri has allegedly violated all set norms under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) by deploying labourers from other states. The department has also been using and used substandard material for executing works in Tehsil Sunderbani.
Sources told Early Times that RDD had got executed MGNREGA works at Panchayat Nallaha Makol in tehsil Sunderbani during 2017-18. It has been alleged that low quality material was used in execution of tile works.
"Shockingly JCB machine was used in the work, which is totally prohibited and the labour from other States including UP, Bihar was deployed in its execution," they alleged further adding that a local resident of the Panchayat lodged a complaint against gross violation by department with Commissioner Secretary RDD and consequently an order for inquiry was issued by officials to ACD
Rajouri, who conducted a thorough investigation of the complaint and found the gross violation made by concerned VLW and BDO and submitted a report to Commissioner Secretary.
Given the inquiry report, the Commissioner asked the Director RDD to take action against VLW and BDO but till date no action has been taken against the erring officials. Except transferring VLW, no other action was taken by the Director RDD. If sources are to be believed a BJP leader came into their rescue in the matter and saved VLW and BDO from any strict action as per found in reports of the ACD Rajouri. After seeing lacklustre attitude of the RDD, the complainant lodged complaint with Vigilance Organisation, which sought records but no action was taken. Now the whistleblower has threatened to go to court of law in case no action was taken against the erring officials.
