17 years on, JKPCC fails to construct Dunadi- Bunjwah road

Kishtwar, Mar 7: The people of Bunjwah area of Kishtwar have rued the delay in construction of road from Dunadi to Noor Bunjwah by JKPCC, the work on which was taken up 17 years back, in 2002. People travelling on this 13 km road stretch were facing lot of problems due to its bad condition.
Several deputations of inhabitants of Bunjwah and its adjoining areas, from time to time called on various Deputy Commissioners of Kishtwar and apprised them about the slow pace of work by JKPCC on Dunadi-Bunjwah road and the problems being faced by the people. They urged the Governor administration to direct JKPCC and the contractor to finish the road widening and cutting of rocks prior to the agriculture season so that their crops could be saved.
"We have urged JKPCC to start the widening work before commencement of the agriculture season. Any delay in this regard will lead to damage of crops," said the local inhabitants, further adding that time was ripe to carry out the work as winter season is about to end in next few weeks. They said that though the concern DCs from time to time took up the matter with JKPCC executive engineer and directed him to carry out the work of road widening on priority basis, but nothing has been done till date and the road construction hanging since last 17 years.
The people said that now they are pinning hope on governor administration to look into the issue and ensure its completion. They also hoped that the Governor Administration will order probe into the utilisation of funds worth several Crores on this road which is yet to see the light of the day even after 17 long years.
