Jitendra Singh a rootless outsider: Vikramaditya
4/2/2019 11:50:51 PM
Early Times Report

HIRANAGAR, April 2: Senior Congress leader and the party's candidate from Udhampur parliamentary constituency Vikramaditya on Tuesday claimed that union minister and the sitting Member Parliament Dr Jitendra Singh is a rootless outsider who has never bothered about the people of the constituency.
"I challenge him to name five panchayats and their five sarpanchs anywhere in this constituency", Vikramaditya dared Jitendra Singh, while addressing a series of public meetings in Hiranagar area today.
Vikramaditya recalled his family's association with the people of the state in general and this area in particular. "We have been born here, brought up here, have served here for generations and glorified the Dogra identity in the world history", the scion of the Dogra dynasty said while touching an emotional chord with the people.
He appealed to the people to judge for themselves as whose contribution was greater; whether that of the Congress or the BJP. "Congress fought for the freedom of the country and it was the Congress government in association with my grandfather Maharaja Hari Singh that ensured that the state became part of the Indian union", he pointed out.
Referring to Jitendra Singh's non-performance as an MP, Vikramaditya urged people to question him about his achievements. "When he comes to you again for your vote, ask him what he actually has done for you despite holding an all important portfolio in the Prime Minister's Office?" he urged people while exhorting them to hold Jitendra Singh accountable and answerable.
Referring to the fake and fictitious claims of the BJP, he said that the disinformation spread by BJP IT Cell on social media sites has no takers and the reality is that BJP candidate of the constituency, who also happens to be the Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, is more concerned about North East than Udhampur-Kathua Lok Sabha Constituency.
Taking a jibe at Jitendra Singh who questions Congress' contribution in the development process of the country, Vikramaditya Singh said that it was Congress party's hard toiled and visionary efforts that Prime Minister Modi started inaugurating development projects including chugging off train to Katra in J&K and umpteen others within a 'fortnight' of assuming the charge.
Among those present on the occasion included Thakur Balbir Singh MLC, Subash Gupta Ex- MLC, Prem Lal Ex-MLA, Girdhari Lal Galotra and Advocate Rakesh Sharma.
