AIKS expresses anguish at Congress manifesto concerning J&K
4/3/2019 11:03:31 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 3: All India Kashmiri Samaj, during a meeting, under the Presidentship of Col Tej K Tikoo considered the implications of the Indian National Congress's Election Manifesto for General Elections, 2019, issued by the Party on 2 April 2019. AIKS considers it totally unwise for the Congress to declare its intention to do away with AFSPA. This step will remove the security forces' shield against being perpetually hauled to the Court to defend themselves. It will further tie their hands and prevent them from fighting Pakistan's proxy war effectively. AIKS is of the firm opinion that the Centre needs to strengthen the security forces in Kashmir rather than weakening them, particularly when 'Op All Out' has broken the back of jihadi militants in the valley during the last three years. AIKS also expressed its deep resentment on the Congress intention to do away with the law concerning sedition. This law is necessary to prevent fifth columnists within from destroying our internal cohesion and act as active collaborators of our enemies without. Congress's intention to reduce the strength of security forces in the state also came in for sharp criticism. AIKS is quite clear that any reduction in the quantum of troops in Kashmir can only play into the hands of our enemies, both within the state as also those across the LoC. AIKS is of the firm opinion that such decisions, taken without due diligence and without proper consultation with the security forces, will amount to the weakening of our position in the state, particularly in the Valley.
