Impressive function of 32nd Convocation of IGNOU organized

JAMMU, Apr 3: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organized its 32nd Convocation which was organized today at IGNOU Maidan Garhi New Delhi Headquarters and simultaneously at 58 Regional Centres across the Country including Regional Centre Jammu.
As many as Two Lakh Two Hundred and Twelve candidates have been declared qualified to receive Degrees/Diplomas in the 32nd Convocation across the country.
All those students who have passed in December 2017 and June 2018 Term-End Examinations are declared as eligible for 32nd Convocation.
M. Venkaiah Naidu, His Excellency, the Vice President of India, was the Chief Guest and delivered convocation address and at the New Delhi Headquarters of IGNOU. Convocation at Jammu was held in the Conference Hall of KC Residency, Jammu. Prof. Anju Bhasin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, was the Chief Guest on this occasion at Regional Centre Jammu and awarded Degree Certificates to the eligible Learners. A total of 9215 learners from Regional Centre Jammu were declared successful and eligible to receive Diplomas and Degree Certificates out of which 4825 are Master Degree awardees, 3853 are Bachelor Degree awardees, 384 are of Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma programmes and 153 learners are of six months duration Certificate programmes. Around 118 learners of different programmes who had submitted their consent online were awarded Degree/Diploma Certificates in the Convocation function at Jammu in person.
Prof. Anju Bhasin, Chief Guest on the occasion, termed the 32nd Convocation of IGNOU as an occasion of Celebration of IGNOU's achievements which is referred to as the People's University accessible to all those far and wide who otherwise would have lost the opportunity to gain access to higher education, improve upon their qualification and increase the chances of employment.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Anju Bhasin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, congratulated the students on whom the University had conferred Degree Certificates and also appreciated the efforts made by the Regional Director and his team for their sincere efforts to widen the spectrum of education in the region.
Prof. Anju Bhasin in her Convocation address urged the awardees they have to translate their educational achievements to benefit the world and that they all have a collective responsibility to work for progress of the society and the country as a whole.
Regional Director, Er. K K Bhat, presented the Regional Centre Report. In his report Er. Bhat presented a summary of the initiatives that the University and the Regional Centre Jammu have taken to strengthen students support services network in the region.
The Regional Director, Er. K K Bhat congratulated the awardees for their achievement and wished them success in their future endeavours. Er. Bhat also appreciated the role of Regional Centre staff in making the function of 32nd Convocation of IGNOU a grand success. S. Tajinder Pal Singh, Assistant Registrar of the Regional Centre Jammu, presented the vote of thanks.
