Early Times Report
ramban, Apr 4: Chairman of Indian National Congress's (INC) Election Campaign Committee in J&K, Ghulam Nabi Azad today held public rallies support of Vikramaditya Singh who is contesting as Congress candidate from Doda-Udhampur-Kathua constituency.
He held rallies in Top Neel in Ramban, Khari in Banihal and then in Gool where he reached by helicopter along with Vikramaditya Singh.
Addressing the gatherings, Azad said that Congress has always received overwhelming support in this region especially in Banihal constituency. He said that in Banihal during ULB elections all the candidates belonging to Congress won and in Panchayat elections too majority of the party supporters got elected.
Lambasting Narendra Modi led NDA government at centre for unfulfilling most of its previous poll promises, Azad said that the ruling dispensation at the centre only indulged in flaring communal passions in the country.
He alleged that the Kashmir situation and Indo-Pak relations worsened during this regime. Elaborating the salient features of the recently released Congress manifesto, he promised implementation of Panchayati Raj act in its true form to strengthen the governance at ground level in rural areas. He promised financial security of Rs 6,000 every month to the poorest of poor, exemption of application fee for job seekers, reservation of seats for women in Assembly and Parliamentary elections.
