Jammu, April 5th : Continuing its drive against Drugs, Ramban Police achieved a major success by recovering 300 Kilograms of Poppy Straw concealed in 12 gunny bags from a truck at Nashri on NHW under the jurisdiction of Police Station Batote this afternoon.



The accused has been identified das Nazir Ahmed S/O Nittu Gujjar R/O Ward No.02 Village Boliwal,Tehsil Haroli Distt Una HP .

The menace of drugs among the youth is spreading at an alarming rate which is among the greatest causes of concern. In order to free the society of such heinous societal crimes, a special drive have been launched by J&K Police against the drug abuse. Carrying forward the special drive, today Police conducted surprise checking of vehicles at Nashri on NHW. During checking & frisking one truck bearing Reg No.HR37D/5567 was on way its way from Kashmir got signaled to stop for checking. On thorough search of the vehicle recovered 12 gunny bags filled POPPY STRAW like substances weighing about 300Kgs from the vehicle. Case FIR NO 31/19 U/S 8/15 of NDPS act stands registered against the accused person at Police Station Batote & investigation has been geared up to ascertain the source & other persons involved in smuggling of contraband. Ramban Police will not left any stone unturned to curb drug smuggling & public in general is requested to co-operate & strengthen the hands of Ramban Police to weed out the social evils from the society.
