Early Times Report

KISHTWAR, Apr 5: Tatani village in tehsil Drabshalla of district Kishtwar is a perfect tale of raising high hopes of development and progress while getting almost nothing in return as the promises made by the ex-MLA have hardly got fulfilled.
The general perception of the people of this remote village which is part of the Inderwal Assembly segment is that they do not feel something fruitful has happened or changed for their betterment over the last 17-18 years wwhile being represented by the ex-MLA Ghulam Mohd Saroori of the Congress.
Locals said that the promises and assurances made by Saroori remained a distant dream for them as their hamlet is still one of the most backward villages of Tehsil Drabshalla which lacks basic facilities even today.
"It is a village which has at least 1600 voters yet it has been neglected by all the representatives since 1947. All the MLAs of Inderwal constituency used this village as their vote bank. In 2008 the then MLA Inderwal promised to give this village a status of model village," a local said.
"Funds were released on the name of model village. Construction of pacca paths, hospital computer hall and Panchayat Ghar had to be take up but 11 years have passed since then, and locals are still waiting for their creation. Poor residents of this village even lacks proper water supply," he added.
People while expressing their anguish said that Ex-MLA has failed to bring anything related to model village adding that they are unable to forget his promise when he said that "Tatani will become a model village and it will be named as Khushal Pora" but no attempt was made on ground level to fulfill this promise.
