Political turncoats have demeaned democracy: Harsh
4/6/2019 6:29:48 PM

Reasi : Adjuring people not to fall prey to the unscrupulous political turncoats who pronounce themselves to be the ‘champions’ of masses, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and former Minister vociferously asserted that Panthers Party alone has emerged as a pure force of the people of Jammu Pradesh which stood firm with the Dogras at all times. “In the past four years, we have staged more than 400 protests pertaining to Jammu region centric issues in Jammu, at Jantar Mantar and outside the Parliament in the Union capital. We were arrested and detained in the jails several times while fighting for your pride and honour”, Harsh said. He was addressing trail of public meetings at Reasi city, Katra, Sandrani, Kambaldanga segments of district Reasi in Udhampur Parliamentary constituency here today.

Addressing the gatherings, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh regretted that democracy today had been marred by the political turncoats who frequently cross floors for their self interests. “Such politicians dessert their parties, hoodwink people with false slogans, garner votes from the gullible electorate and finally abandon them after ascending power. Beware of them. They are selfish leaders who don’t bother about the welfare of the people”, cautioned Harsh. Elucidating the of late trends of defection, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh divulged that one Maharaja had entered the electoral fray on the Congress mandate after abandoning the PDP. He was the MLC of the party and after sensing that the PDP ship has sunk, he preferred to cross the floors. Likewise, another Congressman who enjoyed ministerial berths while the party was in power, after spending long years in the party fold deserted Congress and joined BJP. He vehemently opposed the Saffron party and its ideology all his life before abhorrently jumping into BJP band wagon to save his political career, revealed Harsh. Taking a jibe at one dubious politician who has a rotten record of changing parties, Mr. Singh said that the self claimed leader after enjoying stint in Congress (T), joined Congress and on its mandate, he was elected MP twice. During an artificially hyped Modi wave in 2014, the self centered politician took no time in breaking allegiance with the Congress to join BJP despite hurling choicest of abuses to Modi on social media prior to the elections. Now, during twilight of his political career after failing to espouse the cause of the people in the past, he has floated DSS to entice the voters by fanning their emotions on the plank of restoring ‘Dogra prestige’. This is nothing but politics of opportunism, Harsh maintained.

Claiming that Panthers Party is the party of poor and wretched, Mr. Singh said, while the contesting Maharaja was born with silver spoon in his mouth, several others had made fortunes earlier by misusing their authority and power. “These candidates have no idea about poverty. They are not versed with the woes of a common man. They are incapable of bringing development to your constituency and only interested in their profits. One is begging for votes in the name of Modi, other by inciting Dogra passion and another on behalf of his royal lineage. They have demeaned democracy. How could they represent the people in the Lok Sabha in right letter and spirit?”, questioned Harsh.
“Vote and support Panthers in Lok Sabha polls. We feel your pain. We have originated from within you. If I’m elected MP, I will show the country that even Dogras have leaders. Your voice will resonate in the Parliament. I assure you this with conviction”, Harsh urged to the people.
