BJP's poll manifesto promising to abrogate Article 370 and 35-A may prove counter productive
4/10/2019 10:43:49 PM
The BJP's Poll Manifesto calls for high degree of criticism. It has gone on then one extreme to abrogate Article 370 and Article 35-A. And why this hasty step when Modi and his team know it well that simple fidding of Article 370 and Article 35-A may not be acceptable to the voters of Kashmir. And if Modi and his team managed to abrogate Article 370 and Article 35-A it burn the entire Kashmir valley. What is the purpose of rebuilding the Ram temple when in 2014 the BJP, which won he election to the Lok Sabha, has not been able to do it. Why this charade? Simply it a vote catching device but may upset peace in Kashmir. The BJP has described its poll manifesto as determination (sankalp) indicating that the BJP is set to fulfill the promises it has made in the poll manifesto.
In a scathing criticism of the BJP's manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has said it was the voice of "an isolated man", besides being "short sighted" and "arrogant". The ruling BJP released its manifesto for the high-stakes general election starting April 11 on Monday, promising to implement the NRC in different parts of the country to push out infiltrators and zero tolerance to "terror" while reiterating its pet causes -- construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and scrapping of Articles 370 and 35-A, dealing with Jammu and Kashmir's special status. Well there is nothing left about Article 370 because several hundred central laws were applied after the approval of the state legislature. But Article 35-A which deals with the state subject issue is in tact.
"The BJP Manifesto was created in a closed room. The voice of an isolated man, it is short sighted and arrogant," he added. The Congress had dubbed the BJP's election manifesto a "Jhansa Patra" (deception document) and a "bubble of lies" and said it would have been better had the saffron party issued a "maafinama" instead no need for Maafinama because during the last five years relations with the US and other super powers has witnessed improvement. But whay the BJP manifesto has touched Kashmir's sensitive issues and on the basis of the manifesto it may be a blank for BJP in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Already the anger of people, rather voters has peaked and the BJP's commitment to do away with Article 370 and Article 35-A may give birth to many constitutional issues.
