4/10/2019 10:52:09 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 10: Authorities have turned a blind eye to the brazen violation wherein construction of Community Hall is underway just adjacent to the Mubarak Mandi Palace, which is a Heritage Monument.
Sources informed Early Times that the construction of Community Hall has been taking place just behind the Mubarak Mandi for the past 5-6 months near Government Girls Higher Secondary Murarak Mandi. Although any construction close to the building has been banned by the government due to heritage status to the royal building, but the Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society which is sole caretaker of royal building has turned a blind eye to this illegal construction.
"Already Murabak Mandi Palace has been crumbling due to sheer neglect on the part of concerned authorities, and to control the further damage to the building, the government had banned any construction near the vicinity of palace with the result no construction can be carried out within 100 meters as per Heritage Act but this Community Hall is being constructed just a few feet from wall of the palace," they said.
If sources are to be believed the construction violates the laid norms of BOCA and Jammu and Kashmir Preservation of Heritage Monument Act. "The Community Hall is being constructed under Constituency Development Fun of concerned former MLA. The construction threatens the glory of this heritage monument but the Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society has stayed inert to this violation," they said, seeking immediate ban on the illegal construction work.
