Ex-PM Shastri's grandsons send legal notice to Tashkent Files maker
4/11/2019 7:54:43 PM
Mumbai

After Vivke Oberoi starrer PM Narendra Modi, another movie about an Indian Prime Minister has now been caught up in the controversies. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri's The Tashkent Files has received a legal notice from grandsons of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Vibhakar Shastri and Diwakar Shastri, grandsons of Lal Bahadur Shastri, have called it a propaganda film and have accused that it's an "attempt to create unwarranted and unnecessary controversy."
Addressing the legal notice by the Shastris in a press conference, Vivek Agnihotri has stated the trailer had been out in public domain for a while now and claimed that even the Shastri family loved and appreciated it earlier. He further stated that two days back 15-20 members attended the trailer preview screening and the grandson too praised it. Vivek Agnihotri added that he is shocked after he received the legal notice and blames that "this has been done by the TOP CONGRESS LEADER".
He said,
We have authenticated the report, records were available on the basis of RTI... We made a film on every authentic files and documents related to his death...
We released trailer.. and it was on public domain.. Trailer was loved and highly appreciated.. Even Shastri family loves the trailer and appreciated.. Two days back, more than 200 people were invited for trailer preview.. even 15-20 persons from Shastri family attended.. and grandson of Shastri itself appreciated the trailer as it will motivate the youth.. they praised us..
We we’re shocked to get legal notice and I’m sure and not afraid to say that, this has been done by the TOP CONGRESS LEADER...
Without taking any names, he rubbished the legal notice as "false allegations" and blamed it on a "the topmost family of Congress".
The film Tashkent files is based on Late former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri.. Many questions has been raised on his death.. for 53years his family kept requesting from the giver from the day of post-mortem.. there are many holes in this story.. Many of them asked me to look into the depth of this story..
Because of the Top most family of Congress, they are not letting us to release movie on false allegations..
Vivek Agnihotri also claimed that he has been receiving threats every day.
This is arm twisting... They are forcing us not to show this movie..
I said open and we have no shame in saying this because of my personal experience from my first film, they beat me up, there assaulted me, try to bend it everywhere and I had to run door to door and university to do much to show it to people... with this film also there been sending non-stop msgs... if you look at my phone I am shocked and surprised to see so much of threat.. we don’t want any controversy around, absolutely no controversy we knew that, that’s why you went quiet it’s very easy to get an answer and start a controversy because we believe that it’s a very sensitive subject... Shastri Ji was the most humble honest Prime Minister of this country...
Starring Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Tripathi, Shweta Basu and Pallavi Joshi in the lead, The Tashken
