Farooq is right when he says that there cannot be any military solution to the Kashmir issue
6/27/2019 11:20:36 PM
When the Possibilities of talks between the Government of India and the separatists have become bright leaders of the hardliners, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, seems to be not in a position to comment whether he would accept the dialogue or not. At a time when talks between Hurriyat leaders and Government of India (GoI) are hitting all the right cords, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani is tight lipped over the issue.
Despite several attempts, no Hurriyat (G) leader including Geelani showed unwillingness to clear their stand on the matter.
Hurriyat (G) spokesperson said Geelani would not talk on the phone and can only provide a written reply on the topic.
However, when the media forwarded the questionnaire, the spokesperson dodged the matter, saying Geelani is feeling unwell to reply.
"Geelani has just finished the prayers and is currently in his room resting. If possible, he will probably reply tomorrow," the spokesperson said. Similarly, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai also refused to comment on the issue. However, moderates among the separatists are prepared to hold talks with the Government of India but the state unit of the BJP does not wish to hold talks with the separatists on the plea that these talks could not produce any results. And above the National Conference President, Dr Farooq Abdullah, has said that talks with Pakistan could prove result oriented because there is no military solution to the Kashmir issue.
Well talks with the Hurriyat leaders were held during the time Atal Behari Vajpayee was the prime Minister and number of talks yielded no results and that is the reason for the state unit of the BJP to oppose opening of the channels of dialogue with the Hurriyat leaders. Well since the dispute on Kashmir is between India and Pakistan Dr Farooq Abdullah is right when he favoured talks between New Delhi and Islamabad. Yes, he is equally correct when he has stated that there cannot be any military solution to the ticklish issue when both countries are nuclear and have the capacity of dropping missiles against each other. This could lead to destruction of the two sides. But Pakistan seems reluctact in resolving the Kashmir issue and that is indicated by its love for Kashmir and its leaders saying that Kashmir is life-line for Pakistan.
