Under Governor Raj, two universities follow different recruitment policy
SKUAST-K recruits staff, SKUAST-J awaits admin clearance

Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 27: Administrative inertia has virtually paralysed the working of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), which has been waiting for last one year to make recruitments but their sister concern SKUAST-K has been making recruitments routinely, evoking resentment among the aspirants.
Both SKUAST-J and SKUAST-K came into existence and have been governed under the rules and regulations of the same Act but have been working quite contrary but the Governor administration has also failed to streamline the functioning especially of SKUAST-J.
Sources informed Early Times that in the year 2018, the SKUAST-J had advertised 67 posts of various cadre including 23 posts of Professors, 21 posts of Associate Professors and 23 posts of Assistant Professors but the Governor administration allegedly stayed the selection process against the posts due to some unknown reasons.
Aspirants claimed that the advertisement of 2018 was actually a re-advertisement of the posts, advertised way back in 2014. In the tenure of over five years, now the advertisement has been caught in administrative quagmire, due to some unknown reasons in SKUAST-J.
But contrary to it the SKUAST-K has been issuing regular advertisements for making recruitments. So far in June month, SKUAST-K issued four advertisements for making recruitments of various cadres while in May, April, March, February and preceding months.
Advertisements were issued by SKUAST-K for making recruitments of Female Nurse, Accounts Assistant, SRF, JRF, positions in Research Projects, for teaching positions, guest lectures, non teaching positions, Director Research, Associate Dean, Associate Director Research and several other posts.
"If the Governor administration stayed the recruitments in SKUAST-J, why not same orders were issued to SKUAST-K administration", an aspirant rued, adding that implicitly or explicitly the decisions of Governor administration have also been harming the interests of youth of Jammu as well as hampering the functioning of SKUAST-J, which has been fraught with shortage of faculty in various courses.
Aspirants informed that a delegation of SKUAST-TAJ had called on Governor in the month of January 2019 and had requested for early completion of recruitments and administrative positions but despite assurances by the Governor nothing has been done so far.
An official pleading anonymity said that SKUAST-J had halted the recruitment process due to non-implementation of UGC roaster (reservation of seats for reserved category candidates) in the recruitments.
"But same UGC roaster is not implemented in SKUAST-K also and they have been making recruitments as per the University recruitment rules. It is quite surprising that due to lopsided decisions the functioning of SKUAST-J has been paralysed", the official said, adding that either the recruitment process in SKUAST-K should also be stopped otherwise, in SKUAST-J, it must be started without any further delay.
Registrar of SKUAST-J Rajesh Talwar initially asked to talk to Vice Chancellor for comments and when reiterated, he asked to call during office hours.
