Leaders only come to here during elections: Bahu Fort residents tell Munish

Jammu, June 22: As a part of his mass contact programme, Editor Early Times Munish Gupta, who would be contesting forthcoming Assembly election as Independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar Assembly Constituency conducted a tour of Bahu Fort on Friday.
During his visit, Munish was informed that they are living in pathetic condition as worms of drains gush into their house and one member of every family are unwell due to infection.
In addition, the basic problems being faced by them for the past many years, particularly poor sanitation, dilapidated roads, lanes and by-lanes and choked drains. Neither Congress, nor BJP leaders paid any heed towards our problems after winning the elections. They criticized the callous approach of local Corporator and former MLA Kavinder Gupta who have failed to take up the development work.
Pooja Sharma said that they were facing problems of basic facilities like water supply, deplorable lanes and especially drains as there is no one to listen to them and clean the drains. "We are forced to clean themselves as there is no sweeper.
SK Sharma said that most of the lanes in the area are in dilapidated condition. Drains are blocked due to these not being connected with sewerage nallah. Most interestingly the safaikaramchari not comes in clean the lane and drains.
Vikas criticized former MLA and present Corporator who failed to complete their promises. He also said as per the government, the water should have supplied daily but water supply is being given 3rd day. After facing a water supply problem a protest demonstration was held against the concerned officials but no effort was made to streamline the water supply.
Sushma Sharma said that the uncovered blocked drains and dilapidated lanes which common civic problems that plague several lanes and civic official are seemed least bothered about it. These civic issues are pending for long and repeated pleas to local Councillor has not yielded any result.
"You can see worms everywhere and during the rainy season, the drains' worms gush into their house. Other consistencies' residents got gas cylinders and other things after seeing their financial condition but no step has been taken to provide such items to them," Geeta alleged.
Kartar Chand Verma said that the amount has been spent on the sewerage project is completely waste as there is no slope and no blueprint was made by the executive agency due to which the locals are facing huge problems.
Shashi Nagorta said that Adhaar card of her son is not made so far after repeated requested to concerned authority due to which he is suffering a lot but there is no representative to hear them.
Kaku Ram said that there is no streetlight was installed in the area by JMC despite repeated pleas to install the same, have fallen flat into deaf ears of the concerned.
Rakesh Kumar and Makhan Lal residing in Sector No. 1 of Gangyal told Munish that "our lanes and drains are in dilapidated condition besides the problem of leakage of water supply pipes. The poor sanitation blocked drains are common problems that plague the locality. Safaikaramchari don't visit regularly which leads to stink emanating from the garbage," they added.
Vinay said that the residents of these areas facing huge problems since PDP-BJP took the reins of the state. He alleged that the former MLA (Kavinder Gupta) after getting elected never visited their locality to take stock of the problems, being faced by them.
Dharmaveer said that their lanes are in a dilapidated condition, the drains are choked. The safai karamchari deputed in our area never come here due to which they have to clean the drains their own.
Rani said that the drains in their area have been blocked for the past many months. "We have repeatedly urged the sanitation workers and others to get this drain cleaned but our pleas have fallen into deaf ears," Rani told Munish.
Vijay Kumar said that the stinking drains and dilapidated lanes have made their lives miserable but no one has bothered about it.
"Our lanes stinks and has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and insects," Vina Kumari and said that it has been two years since the drains are lying in a dilapidated state, they approached concerned s but no action has been taken till date.
Romy Singh, who met with an accident three years ago, is suffering a lot due to his financial condition as he and his family's financial condition is not good to bear the costly treatment and drugs. His mother alleged that they knocked a number of doors to get financial assistance but no one has come forward to help them. She requested that financial assistance would be provided so she can buy medicine for his son.
