UFD organizes plantation drive at Sainik Colony

JAMMU, July 24: In continuation to the Greening Jammu drive, Urban Forestry Division Jammu in collaboration with residents of Sainik Colony conducted a plantation drive.
Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Corporators Gurmeet Kour Randhawa and Narinder Singh along with a large number of locals planted 250 plants. During the plantation drive Chander Mohan hailed the Green Jammu- Clean Jammu campaign and asked the citizens present to adopt one plant each and ensure its complete protection and regular watering so that Jammu becomes a green city in the near future. Among others present were Sunil Singh DFO Urban Forestry Jammu, Rakesh verma Range Officer Sunjwan , Nitin Charak Block Forest Officer with all staff of Sunjwan Range. Another plantation drive under Green J&K was held at Sarojani Naidu Girls Hostel, University of Jammu.
Over 200 saplings of different species were planted by Professor Keshav Sharma Dean academic affairs, Professor Yash Pal provost hostel and Dr. Sarita Sood hostel warden and the inmates of Girls Hostel. Prof Yash Pal briefed the students about the importance of Van Mahostav and Greening Jammu drive.
He also asked the students to talk with your adopted plant on regular basis. Others present were Sakeel Ahmed Range Officer MFP, Kuldeep Raj Block Forest Officer with the staff members.
