Early Times Report

Jammu, July 24: The education department in Kishtwar is once again in news for bad reasons.
Reports said more than two dozen teachers in various education zones, mostly from Inderwal were holding fake degrees or degrees from the unrecognized colleges and universities to avail promotion benefits. and avail the various benefits in the department including promotions from EVs to ReTs to teachers.
The issue come to the fore after some teachers complained about selective release of salary of teachers having fake degrees in Inderwal Zone.
As per the copies of some applications written in Urdu and English addressed to Zonal Education Officer Inderwal, some teachers have expressed anger for denying them salaries and even warned the ZEO to file RTI to know release of salary to selective teachers.
The copy of the applications available with "Early Times" mocks the standard of the writing skills of the teachers.
Speaking to "Early Times" the sources said that there are around 63 such teachers in Inderwal Zone whose degrees were under scanner adding that the degrees of around two dozen teachers among them have been confirmed to be fake. Sources believe many more fake degrees would come to fore.
Sources said the reports from other zones was equally disturbing.
The sources urged upon the Governor Satya Pal Malik and Secretary Education Sarita Chowhan to order probe into the matter and disengage all such teachers engaged on fake degrees beside to punish guilty officials who are shielding them.
It is pertinent to mention IGNOU examination for B.ed witnessed recovery of pre-written answer sheets from two teachers taking examination in Government Degree College Kishtwar.
Even though Kishtwar Police register an FIR NO. 316 of 2018 Under Section 420 RPC & 2/5 Prevention of Unfair means Examination Act against the accused identified by the police as Musarrat Hussain (Enrolment No. 184307253) and Johar Ali (enrolment No. 184277999), but nothing concrete steps were taken by the police to arrest the main accused guilty in the crime neither the department of education did anything beyond the suspension of the two teachers raising many questions on the approach of both police and education department towards dealing such cases involving the future of thousands of students in the state as many as 20000 teachers throughout the state appeared in this examination.
