Early Times Report
Jammu, July 26: With no let up in complaints against Sheikh Imran, the controversial Deputy Mayor of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, in the latest he has been accused of allegedly glorifying violation of traffic norms and the road safety standards.
During his "photo session" in the summer capital after a few hours of rainfall that left the commercial hub of Lal Chowk inundated, the Deputy Mayor was seen travelling in his vehicle with four persons, including him hanging outside in violation of traffic norms.
A senior official of the Traffic Police said the unusual kind of working of Imran had become a "headache for the administration."
"Sometimes he hinders smooth flow of traffic, some times he drives on the wrong side to argue with our cops and now he is taking law into his own hands by making his employees hang outside his vehicle along with himself. What kind of message is such a person sending to the society," said the police official on the condition of anonymity.
He said a formal letter in this regard was likely to be sent to the Raj Bhawan in the coning days.
It is pertinent to mention that recently the Dy Mayor was accused of hindering smooth flow of traffic in Srinagar and had also allegedly violated the security protocol.
Pertinently the deputy Mayor is under the scanner of investigation agency for alleged financial irregularities including non-repayment of loan to the J&K Bank.
The Anti Corruption Bureau had already filed a complaint in this regard against him and his offices were also raises by some national investigation agencies.
Despite repeated attempts the Deputy Mayor was not available for comments.
