Kavinder Gupta blamed for damage due to rains

Jammu, July 26: The non-performance of former MLA Kavinder Gupta is costing the residents of Raika Panchayat heavily, especially during rainy seasons.
The locals informed Early Times that after getting elected in 2014 Gupta never visited the area again for developmental purpose. "Gupta only surfaced in the area this year, that too for party work, when some people joined the BJP", the locals said, adding that for around four years, when Gupta was a legislator, "he ignored us."
The municipal limits of the Jammu city increased in 2018 with the inclusion of several areas belonging to different constituencies with the aim of accelerating their pace of development and also providing the modern housing and urban facilities to these areas", the residents said, adding that several parts of Gandhi Nagar constituency were brought under municipal limits, "but unfortunately we find no mention of our area in that list."
"We have been demanding for long time that our area be added in JMC; we are just 3.5 kilometers away from the JMC office", they said, adding that being part of block Satwari they were unable to get basis civic facilities. "We know from time to time development takes place in the areas falling under the limit of JMC. Road, streets, drains, streetlights and many other basic facilities are missing here", they said, adding that lackadaisical approach of the former -MLA toward this area has also brought a bad name to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas'.
"Recent flood has damaged private property situated along the Nullah in this area, retaining walls at many places have been washed away, fresh crack have also developed following the rain", they said, adding that the district administration should depute a team to access losses due to rain in the area.
"It is alarming time, and preventive measures are immediately required to avoid further damage to houses and the shops in this area", they said.
